Jason Archer
My title is “Educational Media Designer”, but I do a bit more. I have a background in marketing and Web design and development sprinkled in with video production and writing. I’ve recently moved from the marketing side to the academic side and want to journal my journey in integrating the various technologies into teaching here at a small liberal arts university in the midwest. This site is my little experiment to connect with other educational technologists, learning designers and people who care about integration of technology and teaching/learning.
A small group of us meets weekly to reflect and press into academic journal articles to keep on top of how the landscape of teaching and learning are changing. We’ll occasionally post the podcasts for you as well. This is intended to be a community-oriented site, so please provide as much feedback as you desire. Randy Meredith
I’m the Director of Academic Technology at Spring Arbor University. My background is in corporate technology. I am an adjunct instructor for EDU260, 360, MGT512, 516, CPS150. I have 18 years in software and hardware support, 9 years Web development & design, and 5 years supporting LMS platforms (WebCT, eCollege, Blackboard)

Tara McCoy-Jones, M.A., PHR.
Tara is an instructional designer, consultant, and facilitator focusing in the areas of instructional systems design (ISD), organizational development, business process re-engineering, human resource development, dispute resolution, and community collaboration. Ms. McCoy-Jones has provided services to both private and public organizations.
Ms. McCoy-Jones has over 10 years experience in Project Management and over 5 years experience within ISD. Over the past three years, she has worked in education providing consultation services as well as work as an Instructional Technologist and Instructional Designer. Her areas of interest within ISD includes human performance technology (HPT), performance evaluations and assessments, emerging technologies, and distance education. She also works in these capacities to produce needs assessments, various analysis and e-learning.
David Goodrich
David Goodrich is an instructional designer who is pursuing a masters degree at Capella University. He intends on pursuing his doctorate there as well. He has an education background with his undergraduate degree in secondary science from Cornerstone University.
David spent a few years teaching right out of college where he cultivated his use of technology in a high school science classroom with an emphasis on effective pedagogy. It was while he was teaching that he began thinking about the direction that education could be headed in the future and decided to engage a career that was dedicated toward online learning in higher education. He began working in Technology Services at Spring Arbor University while pursuing his education in instructional design and is now working in the Office of Academic Technology as an instructional designer.
Marlena Bravender
Marlena is an instructional designer whose areas of interest are Social Learning, Motivation, Educational Media, and Group Development Processes. Her initial avenue into instructional design came directly from teaching. She was asked to experiment with different learning management systems to teach a variety of students. After that there was no stopping her extreme interest with how specific designs and tools could encourage student learning via online courses.
Her background is in the Social Sciences field for the last seven years. She is an adjunct professor for various social science courses with six years experience using Blackboard, Moodle, WebCt, and Educator.
Allan Carrington
Allan is a Learning Designer in the Centre for Learning and Professional Development (CLPD) at the University of Adelaide in South Australia. He has a background in printing, publishing, web development and educational multimedia. He has two Masters Degrees – one in Interactive Multimedia and the other in Online Education. As well he has worked in learning and teaching in the VET sector and has a Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. Allan was also on staff at the University of the Nations (YWAM) for nine years and has led schools (courses) in Hawaii and Texas USA, as well as Paraguay. He has taught in communications, marketing and research, print production and using the Internet for education. Allan has extensive experience in online collaboration and facilitation.

Daniel Shackelford
Daniel has worked with technology in an academic environment for 10 years, across many platforms. Today he is a Systems Administrator, managing OS X , Windows, and Linux services, and developing solutions to the ever-changing problems in university infrastructure. While he likes and enjoys Mac OS X, he still uses Windows and Linux as well, and refuses to actively participate in the cult of Mac. If pressed, he will admit that he would rather be making cheese.
